Our Roots

Work of Belonging grew from a simple question: what helps people build relationships and families in which they can truly belong?

This is a place where I explore that question through marriage and family studies, essays, reflection, and family life education.

I write about the relationships that shape us: between parents and children, partners, families, communities, and the generations that came before us. I am especially interested in how our histories, values, patterns, and choices influence the relationships we build.

Work of Belonging is also becoming a place for learning. Alongside the essays, I develop workshops and educational resources that translate research on relationships and family life into practical reflection and conversation.

The project is still growing. At its heart is the conviction that belonging is not something we simply find. It is something we learn to create, receive, and offer to others.

What Guides the Work

Belonging

Healthy relationships grow where people can be known, valued, and connected.

Understanding

Looking honestly at our histories and patterns can help us choose what we carry forward.

Growth

Strong relationships are not simply found. They are built through learning, practice, and intentional choices.

Evidence & Reflection

Research can illuminate family life, while lived experience helps us ask better questions about what it means.
